About

Pocket Runthrough started as a group chat between four friends who kept swapping tips about the games clogging up their phones. At some point the messages got too long and detailed to keep to ourselves, so we turned them into a proper site.

Everything you read here comes from real play sessions. We don't cover a game until at least one of us has spent serious time with it, usually a week or two, sometimes much longer if the game keeps its hooks in us. That means our guides talk about the parts that trip people up, not just the shiny opening tutorial.

We pick games across every genre because our own tastes are all over the place. One editor lives for slow strategy games, another only touches fast arcade stuff, and someone here will play any racing game you put in front of them. That spread keeps the catalogue honest and varied.

We're not tied to any studio or publisher. If a game is fiddly or the controls fight you, we say so. If something surprises us in a good way, we say that too.

Lena Vermeulen — Lena has been writing about games for over a decade and handles most of the puzzle and strategy coverage. She's the one who insists every guide gets tested twice before it goes live.
